The world famous company General Motors takes care of the safety of drivers while driving. GM engineers have developed a completely new program that projects information about the situation on the road directly to the windshield of the car. This technology is designed to help older people and those who have vision problems.
The system is arranged in such a way that the windshield turns into a transparent screen, on which road markings and possible obstacles on the way in the form of a pedestrian, animal or emergency fence are most clearly visible as possible. The sensor complex includes a night vision device, viewing cameras that allow scanning objects on the sidelines, and motion sensors. Such a device is extremely necessary in rainy weather or fog, when the visibility on the road is limited. With the help of a laser projector, which allocates objects with additional luminous lines, the driver will be able to navigate the markings and road signs. It is also possible that this system will help you pay attention to the need to repair the chassis or, for example, remind you of the replacement of tires and you can, thus, can buy freight tires in St. Petersburg in time.
The technology has been developed by GM together with leading universities in the country and is planned to be used in the serial production of new cars since 2020. Such an invention is a necessity, developers say, since according to health organizations, the number of elderly people over 65 in America is increasing all the time, and in ten years will be about 19% of the total population.
The first attempts to create such a technology were back in 1988, but they were not able to realize. This development provides for a projection on the windshield of speed and other parameters, so that the driver is not distracted during the path to the indications of devices.
