The most logical option for solving problems with the wiring that powers the light bulbs in the headlights is to completely overhaul the circuit, clean and replace all connections, terminals and contacts.
But anyone who has ever delved into car wiring knows that it is impossible to quickly disassemble it even for an experienced and qualified auto electrician.
It’s easier to cut the wiring and lay a new circuit – this way you can be sure that the voltage will not disappear anywhere along the way.
For new wiring you will need:
- wires;
- two 10 amp fuses;
- car relay;
- connecting blocks.
The process itself is simple, everything is visible in the diagram. The idea is to connect the headlight bulbs directly from the battery via a relay, and connect the coil to the wires from the “original” high and low beam wiring, or take the control signal from the fuse block, as shown below. The new chain is shown in red; for those who understand, there is nothing difficult in installation. If for you the diagram looks like Chinese characters, it is better not to go there at all, contact specialists or friends who can read diagrams.
The original low beam fuse needs to be removed, and a wire with a terminal is inserted in its place. If the terminal does not want to be inserted into the place of the fuse, it must be filed a little with a file.
After all the manipulations, the voltage from the battery to the low beam lamps should be equal to the voltage on the battery when the engine is running – 13.5-14 volts. Accordingly, the headlights will begin to shine brighter – this directly affects the level of safety.
It is quite possible to improve the headlights without replacing bulbs – the most important thing is to understand the real reason; it is quite possible that the problem is not voltage at all, and the headlights really need to be polished.
