In the camp of the Austrian manufacturer, the slogan “Ready to Race” is still held in high esteem (“Ready for the race”). This motto is fully consistent with the concept of “1290 Super duke r". The two -cylinder motor of this monster gives out (of course, not without the help of the direct -flow system of “Akrapovic”) almost 180 “horses” from 1.295 “Cubes” of volume. Add to this the same scrap in large “doubles” KTM torque on the bottom and get the perfect “Wheelie Machine”, that is, a motorcycle adapted for driving on the rear wheel. A little to keep the bike in the bridle helps ABS and trakeshn-control. The frame, although it looks like previous creations of engineers from Mattighofen, is completely new. It is made of chromomolibden steel, and external elements are made of carbon. The engineers put completely adjustable “WP” suspensions and alloy wheels, shod in sliks on the concept. Brakes, of course, from “Brembo”. But nothing is said about the serial production of bike yet.
The second spectacular debutant from the Austrians is not so powerful, but it is about to appear at dealers. The recipe for the manufacture of the new “KTM 390 Duke” is very simple: to the chassis from the younger "Duke 125 ”and“ 200 ”added a 373-cubic single-cylinder engine. The motorcycle turned out to be compact and maneuverable. Its weight is only 139 kg. And 44 “horses”, multiplied by such a mass, will definitely not let the experienced driver be bored. By the way, UWP suspensions and ABS are included in the basic configuration.
