The time has come for experiments
The first thing Patrick Le Quemant, the new head of the Renault Design Department, did this to the company that it will from now on it will lead in the design, and all the cars will be innovative in uniform, that is, the best in the world. The first model developed by the Leman, Twingo, proved that he was not joking and that he was going to continue to strive for his ideal.
In Renault Twingo, Le Keman masterfully realized the idea of a “boxed” design, the basis of which was laid the Renault Espace model, but applied it to the creation of the smallest machine in its class. The forms of the new model were striking grace, the line from the front bumper to the upper part of the windshield was one elegant curve and was interrupted only on the original form of the front headlights, on the upper opening hatch.
Renault Twingo for now and for many years
Outside, Twingo hatchback looked wonderful, but his interior was made even better. Digital tools were located in the center of the panel, in an oval deepening, and parts of the program made of tactile material were painted in contrasting colors. The salon was very spacious, four people could sit quite comfortably in it, each seat could shift and lean back. At the request of the customer, the machine was equipped with an opening sunscreen glass roof and air conditioning.
But if the shape of the Twingo model looked avant -garde, then the mechanical part of the car, at least, disappointed – almost all the parts were taken from the long -outer Renault 5 model. In 1996 alone, Renault installed its new, modern engine with a volume of 1149 cm3 on the model, very “vocal” and high power. At the same time, at the request of buyers in Renault Twingo, automatic gearboxes began to be installed instead of the old model.
