It is important to remember right away – any manipulations with the “mechanics” lever must be carried out with the clutch disengaged.
We pressed the pedal all the way, shifted gears, then released the pedal and put our left foot on the resting area.
The second point is that you cannot operate the clutch pedal like a switch, on and off. If you “throw” the left pedal too quickly, the car will move jerkily and be subject to shock loads. In addition, sharp surges in traction on the drive wheels can cause them to slip and, as a result, loss of vehicle stability.
But you shouldn’t hesitate either: by releasing the left pedal too long and smoothly, the driver provokes clutch slipping, which leads to overheating and excessive wear of the friction linings. In such cases, a characteristic burnt smell usually appears in the cabin.
