Honda Motor Co. It plans to build three options for its compact Fit, including the sedan version in the back, which is currently under construction at its Mexican factory.
Two other options are a standard hatchback and Honda Fit based on the crossover platform, the head of the company said this.
Honda considers the sale of all three in the United States, Japan and some other countries, but about Europe and in particular, Russia is not yet known. Representatives of the company believe that a general change can force buyers to have a greater interest in Fit in the sedan back. Currently, a good sedan that Honda can boast, this is just civic.
The Mexican Factory, which, as noted, will open in 2014 will have a capacity for the production of 200,000 vehicles, 30% of which will be delivered to the Mexican market. So, auto parts for Honda, supplied to this country will increase their number.
In October, the president of Honda Tekanobu, the results said that the vast majority of cars left from the plant would go to the United States. But he refused to give accurate numbers.
This prospect implies a large jump in the Honda sales for the Mexican market.
In 2011, Honda sold only 36.209 vehicles in Mexico. This year, sales were higher by 53 percent and amounted to 42.933 units from January to October this year. Adding another 60,000 vehicles more than doubled Honda sales volume.
The Honda production plant in New Mexico, the second in the country, plays a key role in terms of raising sales by 18% to 2 million devices, until March 31, 2017.
Fit, as expected, will be the fastest growing car in terms of sales during this period.
Fit production in Mexico will give dealers more financially opportunities, so they will help them to increase sales new options for body forms.
In other countries, Honda is already selling fit station wagon, minivan and sedan. Honda representatives said that it is planned to add to the body options and the crossover.
